
A Celebration of Life Service will be on June 2, 2017 at 3:30 pm at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. Friends may visit with the family until the 3:30 memorial service time .
Carolyn Riddell McDonald was born in Evansville, Indiana on May 31, 1943. Carolyn passed away peacefully on May 23rd after a 20 year battle with Alzheimer’s. She was preceded in death by: her parents Dr. Thomas Riddell and Josephine Jackson; her sister and brother-in-law JoAnn and Charles C. Brandt; niece Lisa Brandt; and mother and father-in-law Caroline and Roland McDonald.
She is survived by her children, Mindy Duffer (Craig), Matt (Nikki Withrow), and Mike (Doris); grandchildren, Maddy, Sam, Cate, Jack, Joe and Eli; Her sister, Mary Lou Hadley; nieces and nephews, Deb, Kris, Amy, Tom, Ann, Julie, Mark; and her dear friend, Bob McDonald.
Carolyn graduated from North Central High School where she was a cheerleader. She attended DePauw University and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and also a cheerleader. Following graduation she was a teacher for several years before taking time off for her children and volunteer work. She was a member of Junior League, Sunnyside Guild and the Indianapolis Zoo Guild where she also served as president. She was very active with Christmas at the Zoo and the Next to New Shop. She reentered the workforce as a Realtor and worked for Jerry Tarshes and Tucker Realty for many years. She was a member of St. Luke’s Methodist Church where she frequently volunteered. Carolyn loved her family and friends, the outdoors, tennis, running, swimming, skiing and golf. She lived life to the fullest, loved summers at the lake and her little red sail boat, travelling to visit her kids and filling each day with love and laughter for those around her. Carolyn’s kind gentle nature and friendly out-going personality made lifelong friends wherever she went. Her beautiful smile and warm heart are dearly missed.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Indianapolis Zoo and Agape Therapeutic Riding Center in Cicero, Indiana. Also, a special Thank You to the wonderful staff at Wellbrooke of Westfield.
